Doppler 3.0 CTP 2006-11-01 Release

Important:

This is beta code! This means that things can go wrong. If you are not happy running beta code, please install Doppler 2.0.0.3.
If you’re still with us and decided to upgrade or want to do a fresh install, follow the steps below.

How to install

If you are new to Doppler, skip step 1 and 2 and go straight to step 3.

  1. Start Doppler 2.0.0.3, do a retrieve to make sure you’ve download all the latest podcasts, and export your subscriptions to an OPML file. You can export your subscriptions using the menu option in the ‘File’ menu.
  2. It’s now safe to uninstall Doppler 2.0.0.3. You don’t need it anymore ;-)
  3. You need the .NET 2.0 framework. If you are running Windows XP and upgraded to Service Pack 2 then you probably already have the .NET 2.0 framework installed. If not, you can download it from this link:
    .NET 2.0 Framework Redistributable Package
  4. After you’ve made sure that the .NET 2.0 framework is happily installed on your computer, download and install Doppler 3.0 beta 2 (the link to the download is all the way down at this page).
  5. Start Doppler 3.0 (there should be an icon on your desktop)
  6. When you start Doppler, you will be asked for the location of your download folder. Point it to the same location as you used with Doppler 2.0.0.3, or pick a new location if you’re new to Doppler. We recommend creating a ‘My Podcasts’ subfolder in your ‘My Music’ folder, which in turn can be found in ‘My Documents’.
  7. Now import your exported feed subscriptions into Doppler (but only if you have been running Doppler 2.0.0.3 before) using ‘File’, ‘Import OPML’. After you’ve imported your subscriptions run catch-up all from the menu (make sure you’ve marked the feeds, optionally by selecting ‘mark all’) and your download history should be the same as it was.

Again, as said in bold font above: this is a beta. Things can go wrong (that is, it can crash or something like that. It won’t start formatting your harddisk out of nothing…). But don’t say we didn’t warn you when it starts acting weird ;-)

So… still with us? Then here you go: download!
