This page describes how to download, install and use DopplerMobile. It is by far not a complete manual. Also please realize:

This is BETA software to say the least. It is not finished, and you install this software at your own risk.

DopplerMobile requires a functional internet connection, either being in the form of GPRS, UMTS, WIFI or just a normal ActiveSync connection where the phone can share the internet connection with your computer. If you use GPRS or basically any data plan where you will have to pay for every byte received and sent, please take notice of the fact that DopplerMobile downloads feeds from the internet and thus as a result will cause your phone bill to increase. We advice you to use DopplerMobile either on an unlimited data plan or by using WIFI or the ActiveSync connection.

DopplerMobile runs on devices running Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003, and Windows Mobile 5.0 (both Pocket PCs and Smartphones).

DopplerMobile requires the .NET Compact Framework 2.0. This is not pre-installed on the currently available Windows Mobile 5.0 devices or Pocket PC 2003 devices. In order to install this, download the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 redistributable and install it prior to installing DopplerMobile.

After you installed it, download DopplerMobile (right-click, Save Target As/Save Link As). If you open the URL from your device you can install it right away, otherwise copy the file to your device using ActiveSync and open the file with the file manager on your phone. It will then ask you to install DopplerMobile.

DopplerMobile only supports RSS feeds, ATOM support might be added in the future.

Important: when you upgrade from Beta 2 to Beta 3, uninstall DopplerMobile first. On Pocket PC’s this might lead to a non functional shortcut in your program’s list. In order to remove this icon (do this before you install DopplerMobile beta 3) open your file explorer, switch to \windows\start menu\programs and remove the shortcut to DopplerMobile. It’s safe to leave your feeds and settings in place. DopplerMobile beta 3 will read those without a problem.
